With the recent rise in University fees, and the increased difficulty in finding opportunities in their local area, many people are choosing to explore other ways in which they can enrich their lives and gain life experiences that they may not get otherwise, or ones that they want to take during a gap year while they still have the time to do so. At Dream Big Ghana, we believe that these life experiences are often a lot more valuable than anything materialistic that money can buy. There aren’t many things in life that are more rewarding than giving someone who has nothing a chance to live the life that they deserve. When you volunteer with Dream Big Ghana you find that not only are you given the opportunity to change the lives of those you help, the journey that you take will stay with you forever. Over the course of your Dream Big adventure you will meet a large amount of the local community, who are all welcoming, friendly and so appreciative of what you have travelled there to achieve. By staying in the Meet Me There Lodge, you live with like-minded volunteers who you also work with during the days. Whether you are out there to build a compost toilet, help teach or coach football you will be working daily with these volunteers to make sure that the quality of life for the local people is vastly improved. Meet Me There lodge comes alive at night which acts as a perfect end to a hard days work, with all the staff and locals makings sure that the lodge is certainly the place to be!

A Day in the Life of a Dream BIG Volunteer

Life as a volunteer at Dream Big Ghana is so much more than just working on your designated project because our staff are so dedicated in making sure that you become as integrated as you can during your stay here. Dream Big Ghana has such a large presence within the community, which has enabled us to discover unique and extraordinary trips and adventures that will accompany the fantastic work you do. Meet Me There lodge neighbors the settlement of Anyanui which hosts frequent markets, ideal for experiencing local culture even if you don’t decide to buy anything. We make sure that you visit as much of the local community as possible, where you will be able to get your own tailored African clothes, enjoy drinks at the many spots (local bars) or just hear the fascinating stories that each member of the community has to share.

Travel and Explore

For ventures further afield, we organize many boat trips in order for you to see as much of the surrounding beauty as possible, with drinks, food and African Drumming accompanying the trip. We have also taken many weekend trips to a waterfall and a Monkey Sanctuary, where you will be given intimate access to the wildlife, as well as spending the night in the beautiful village of Tafi. All of our trips have been tried and tested which means we only provide the safest environment in which you can explore this amazing country. We pride ourselves on being flexible with our volunteers, so if you want to just kick back with a drink and play cards with guests, staff or locals, cool off in our lagoon, or if you fancy partying the Ghanaian way, our staff and friends will treat you like their own family and ensure that your decision to volunteer with us will be one of the best you make!

Staying at Meet Me There Lodge is amazing, it feels like a big family and I felt at home quickly. The compost toilet project was a lot of hard work but completing the project felt amazing and so rewarding. I think volunteering with Dream BIG Ghana was one of the best experiences of my life and I will be returning!! I love you, OLIXXXX
